3D resources

Post by Balthazar » Thu Jan 22, 2009 5:38 pm

Some time ago I was trying to use Spring 3D map features in TA3D. If anyone willing to help, I can provide links and instructions how to do it.

Also I have permission to use it from the authors :)

Rapidshare link has been busy for quite some time now.

E-mail me direct, once I have it I can post it on my site.

That way no one has to wait to get it.
Ok, that was easy to work around after Balthazar sent a temp a link, Thanks by the way.

For the rest of the world here is the directory.

http://ta3d.freedoors.org/Resources/

The file is spring-features.zip, The names of files may change in the future as more resources become available so please just look in or link to the directory only, thank you.
Don't just look at the future through a window.
Open a door and go there.

Since now 3DMeditor allows convetion of Spring models i`ll add more sprite-replacing ones on the next week. Sorry guys, really too busy with real life now, should be better in a weak - two.

Maybe I should add support for features scripting ?
I'll test your models when I am back home.

NB: I don't know if you plan to simulate wind in trees, but if you do, using default animation is not a good idea, it won't look correct if you build a wind generator that'll be heading in another direction ...

Well, yeah, default animation don`t affected by other variables like speed or direction of the wind. To do this we need more detailed models (each branch of tree should be a separate mesh).

Since i`m not good at scripting I can`t promese that I`ll be able to do it correctly. The reason to add animation is to show, that features don`t have to be static :P

I am sure you won't face any problem with scripting once the integrated scripting module will be implemented :P (you'll be able to see all the function prototypes, the code and the result directly in 3DMEditor :D)

Thanks, Zuff :P But i know that there are many other people around, who can test, especially when you are fighting with 3DMeditor so I thought that you are not the only one who can add reply :P

I've tested them in 3DMEditor2, they look nice. I am going to see my grand parents this week end, I'll test in game when I am back :)

yeah, in game that's amazing how much realism it adds to the game :)
You should try sinusoidal moves, it should give smoother direction changes :).

Also I got a rendering bug with shadow mapping enabled (some shadows aren't displayed correctly on some objects, don't know why).

Have you tested sinusoidal moves ?

I've just added some random time references to map features so that their animations are no more synchronized :)
