At the moment i got one nearly done .. more Screenshots and Models will come soon..

The Tower is Work In progress so it doesn't really looks that great because it is difficulty to recreate it..

I've been looking at those renders again and I think 3DMEditor 2 ambient occlusion calculator could give great results on such models :wink:

i have a bad news i cannot work on that OTA urban stuff anymore because my time is very limited i can only be once at a month at my home which i am on Friday to Saturday there

And soon we'll have an even better ambient occlusion map algorithm :P as I am rewriting it to use the power of the GPU instead of doing raytracing on the CPU. Performance boost is HUGE.

by the way i am juist goot at modelling stuff because Wings 3D isnt that hard too learn like Blender

of course Blender is at some point better

but in my option Wings 3D is enough to make models for TA3D and so on..

New algorythm is already implemented in 3DMeditor. Also someone has made a Gasbag model :P Yay!

I made a few gasbag models yesterday with wings3d. I like its UV mapping tools, it's easy to avoid too much distortion.

Blender is a more complete tool but TA3D requires simple models (you don't imagine having billion triangles in a model) to run at descent frame rates so I don't think Blender is a better choice than Wings3D for our 3D models needs (but it can be used to produce nice images like the ones used by the modern theme).

If you head over to this site you can find all the textures you need for models like this.

http://www.filterforge.com/filters/ if you click by category it makes things easier, and there's thousands of good stuff there. All tile able.

Are you sure they are PD or any other GNU license friendly?

the Program is not Free so i doubt that those Textures are GNU etc friendly or whatever TA3D got for an license
and i need the Program to get the textures.. no?

Bump:

I can now texture stuff!

due to being busy with Other projects for spring i have not much time for that Urban recreation set (sadly that urban/snow themed stuff is getting often short on common RTS games)

Well, did i mentioned that i am back on work on summer holiday? No? Well then so do i now then, yes i know its a pain to wait that long but i dont got other choices :(

and finally i learned to do some cheap textures on it... with uv-mapping! (auto for the win)

Because they cheated in making OTA urban tiles, bridges look so retarded, all coastlines do. xD
