3DMeditor 2 - manual

Post by Balthazar » Sun Aug 02, 2009 7:58 am

Image

1. Main 3DMeditor2 window.

It shows loaded model using different texture and surface options. There are three modes for this window:
- Viewing mode (you can change the position of viewing camera to get a nice view of the model)
- Edit mode (there you can move parts of the model)
- Animation mode (shows the animation of the model - currently not fully implemented yet)

Selection/deselection of objects are done by pressing middle mouse button.

2. Texture viewer window.
It shows texturing map and loaded texture.

3.Geometry graph window.
It shows how many independent parts the model have.
For example this shown tree model have 2 independent parts - the leaves and the trunk, that can be moved and textured separately.

4. Surface properties window.
The main part of the 3DMeditor2.
Allows to make different setting to make your model look perfect.
You can set the object color, that can be used without texture, or can be blended with it.
You can add GLSL (shaders) to the independent parts of the model.
You can add lighting effects to the model or make it reflective (with or without using reflection map).

5. Loaded texture window.
Here you see all the loaded textures (they can be ither in the 3dm file or it can be loaded separately)
There can be several textures, such as lighting map, reflection map, ambient occlusion map.
Textures can be flipped or some of them can be generated (like ambient occlusion).

6. Texture control panel.
Here you can load/save/create/delete different textures for yur model.
Here you can also switch the texture mapping mode so you can later create the texture.

After the work is done you can save your object in TA3D native model format - 3dm.

If you have any questions - post it!

there is a help menu in main window with an option in that shows the help pages (html pages) shipped with the 3DMEditor2. Currently there is only 1 empty page in that doc, may be you could write some html doc that could be used directly by 3DMEditor2 ?
