Here -> http://ta3d.sourceforge.net in the downloads section.
Or here www.sourceforge.net -> search for "ta3d".
ver. 0.2.3. But I advise you not to download it, and wait for 0.2.4. maybe a week or so, it would be MUCH better, than 0.2.3.

ok, it's built and uploaded to:
http://ta3d.sourceforge.net/ta3d-pre0-2-4.exe
don't expect miracles, it's a pre 0.2.4, so it has no ingame music, it might crash since you are the people who are going to test it in order to fix that and some parts of the game are not fully optimized like pixel shaded water, and it won't run with 2x2000 units unless you run it on a powerfull 64bits system with the 64bits version (but I only provided a 32bits binary)

Well, it`s strange... It run on one WinXP SP2 and doesn`t run on 4 other WinXP..
I can`t find the cause.
And there are double files in /gfx folder. There are archive copy of the same files.
TA3D runs -> WinXP SP2, GF 440MX, 256 mb, Intel.
TA3D doesn`t runs-> WinXP SP2, ATI 9500, 256, AMD
TA3D doesn`t runs-> WinXP SP2, GF 5200, 256, Intel
TA3D doesn`t runs-> WinXP SP2, Sis (integrated), 256, AMD
TA3D doesn`t runs-> WinXP SP2, GF 6600, 1024, AMD
Looks like there are some kind of soft, that check *.exe reliability or maybe digital signature of some kind, that blocks TA3D running... Dunno, maybe Cire knows what the cause?

The windows version built by linux is not a very decent verison, it is using older stl libs, and could be unstable at various locations within the program.
The windows version built under windows by zuff uses 'temp' cludges to do things and older crt dememed deprecated code. It could be stable under one and unstable under another.
I would say just be paitent until we have more debugging code in place, more error handlers in place. I could not even wager to guess what it could be without some type of stack dump, but as I said just keep tring on newer builds. Zuff has done a hell of a job getting us to this point, but he neglated areas such as error handling, and some very criticle checks.
Sorry I can't offer any other advice then that, just be paitent.

maybe you need to build AllegroGL yourself in place of using the libagl in the archive since it might be a bit hardware(driver) specific.
Balthazar is right, all needed information to retrieve CVS sources is on sourceforge.net:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/ta3d > code > CVS
or directly:
http://sourceforge.net/cvs/?group_id=152189

What i meant was how to download the source in the cvs as its newer, but ive managed that, now it wont compile because im guessing i dont have AllegroOgg and AllegroMp3, the error is:
but i cant find allegroMp3 anywhere, the sites i keep finding link to http://nekros.freeshell.org/delirium/almp3.html but it doesnt work
Code: Select all
ta3d.o: In function `MUSIC_STREAM::destroy()':
/home/julian/ta3dCVS/ta3d/src/music.h:88: undefined reference to `almp3_destroy_mp3stream'
/home/julian/ta3dCVS/ta3d/src/music.h:95: undefined reference to `alogg_stop_streaming'

ho yes, sorry, I forgot I made some modifications to the code to make it build properly with msvc, but I forgot it prevented it from building without alogg and allegroMP3. You will find those libs here: http://www.allegro.cc/resource/Libraries/Audio
I am going to adapt some code to re-enable configuring this on Linux.

these modifications made TA3D build under winxp with msvc. without these modifications you get lots of errors with lines like this:
#if USE_MP3
...
#endif
I changed that to:
#if defined USE_MP3
...
#endif
so USE_MP3 is no more set to true or false when almp3 or alogg is enabled, but we will soon replace this sound system with fmod. Cire is currently doing this module. It will handle mp3, ogg, and lots of other music formats,... without having to rely on Allegro to do that and it's cross platform so it will work the same way on Linux and on windows.

Yeah Can`t wait till I get my hands on 0.2.4. Here, in Russia, we by Microsoft software very seldom, because of high piracy So we all have WinXP or Win Vista or any new M$ soft.
That`s why I can`t think about Linux as good game-oriented OS, yes it`s free, stable, fast, but not for games No DirectX, (D3D support) and many other usefull libraryes, that are pre-installed with OS.
Hell, f*ck the Bill Gates, hail to the Linux

Linux is much better, especially when people put the effort into making games to work for it . I tried http://www.allegro.cc/resource/Libraries/Audio for the allegromp3 libraries but the site it links to is down, I'm re-downloading the cvs source and will try again.
