How to install on Mac OS X 10.5 ???

I downloaded ta3d-0.6.0.WIP.r1812.dmg and unpacked it. There was a app-bundle with generic logo (where's the TA-logo?).
I put it in a folder and added the map files from my TA cd.
And then? Running the ta3d application results in crashes. Is there any documentation on installing ta3d on a Mac? Where to put the map files? How to configure?
It's rather hard to try ta3d, if you do not provide the smallest hint on how to get this thing to work, you know. Whoever made the Mac app: how is this meant to work? :?:

You just have to put the app where you want, like any other os x app.
Put all .hpi and .ccx files into the ~/Library/Application Support/ta3d folder (it should be already created since you've already launched it)
And it should work.

If you still have issues, please provide the log file (~/Library/logs/ta3d/ta3d.log).

The OS X app is far from perfect but it will be redesigned as soon as we have a better 3D implementation (means get ride of the SDL library and use for real the Cocoa API).

(Note: ~/ is your home directory)

I wonder where to get this one. I used Fink so far. PErhaps I should change to Darwinports?

No you don't have to change anything since the application must be launched from a standard desktop environment.
It is possible that I forgot to include in the Bundle this library. I will checkout as soon as possible.

I think that the two problems are (indirectly) related.
Sorry for the long wait but I have to create two virtual machines since all my systems are now running Snow Leopard and I am quite busy this week.

OMG I can finally get in. Must've just been a bad computer day for me or something.

These days I actually use Boot Camp on my Mac, so eventually I'll be able to test out 0.6.0 for Win32 eventually if you so require.
But I think I may wait for something awesome like GoK to be implemented in TA3D first - I'm quite the classic player.

I will check later on if I can using r2021, but that was the same revision I tried that gave me the error in the first place - I don't think it's really going to change, since to my knowledge I followed all of the instructions correctly.

There is actually a problem. For some reason, the operation for changing dynamic shared library install names does not work as expected.
I'm trying to fix that.
Note: There is no need for MacPorts/Fink, only when compiling Ta3D by yourself.

Note: The app still has a buggy icon so don't get surprised
PS : Do not forget to add the resource files (.hpi) in ~/Library/Application Support/ta3d

It seems you don't have all needed resources files (I can't find totala1.hpi).

By the way I will have to fix problems introduced by r2046 on OS X.
And a true logger in the same time, which does not write color escape sequences in a log file....

totala1.hpi is not found on of the TA distribution CD's. It's just totala2-4...

Bad news, I cant run it either. It doesn't even come up with an error message now, just quits out.
Does the Windows version have this problem too?

it works fine on all my mac os (except snow leopard of course since libsdl does not work on it).
I will add some debug info to track the problem down.

You can not use an older version of ftgl. But this issue has been fixed a long time ago if I remember well.
However the binary produced with the latest sources crashes on OS X. I will take a look as soon as possible.

If you still have issues, please provide the log file (~/Library/logs/ta3d/ta3d.log).
