TA3D expect all its text files to be encoded with UTF-8 (eventually with ASCII-7 which is compatible but you may not have enough glyphs).
If TA3D crashes after editing/writing/saving a translation file, check its encoding, if TA3D can't interpret the text it'll crash.
use UTF-8 !!
