You need an OpenGL capable video card with OpenGL driver installed.
If your computer can run vista with aero enabled it should be able to run TA3D.
For vista specific issues I let windows users help you.

If you want good performance on high graphics, at least have this:
1.6 ghz processor (AMDs are good for me <3), 2 gig ram, and I added like a crapton of virtual ram <3.
I averaged at around 15-30fps (varied) in DEBUG mode. (which is slowest)
Welcome to ta3d! The gameplay isn't different! Well, sorta, some keys are changed :P. Balance is the same at 3.1 ta, so have fun man!
just copy totala1.hpi from c:\cavedog\totala and insert into the resources folder in ta3d and your set to play! :D

Zuzuf, does ta3d use 3.1 Evolva models? I noticed peewee model is very different in the textures and models.

TA3D uses whatever you put in its folders. By default (without the free data set) it should use the last Evolva models.
