It look very bad in TA3D.
I think added a spec option:
used OTA weapon,or used 3D weapon.
When used first,show the picture fully.
when used3D weapon,show with Perspective

You mean Shoot animation? Bullets, beams and so on?

It is planned to replaced these sprites with 3D models but the way it should be done has not been discussed yet

It will cause a lot wrong when a mod used a unusual WeaponName.Thus i think there need a option that used OTA 2D picture,show the boom picture fully,dislike now that a part was covered By ground/

I think the easier and nicer way of handling this is to replace hard coded sprites (things that are set in the engine and are used as a weapon type) with hard coded 3D models. For other weapons, since we're going to rewrite them we'll replace sprites with models
. This will keep compatibility with mods

Those hard code sprites include more than 4/5 weapon?
I think TA being Well-known by "eazy and total DIY".Just conside a option that changed Weapon between"Hard code 3D" and "The effect will not be covered by anything".

0.53 waepon is nice.
But there are some big boom couldn't show complete.
